Tram route 7 to Ķengarags will be restored from 30 December
From 30 December, the first tram route 7 will resume running on the regular route Ausekļa iela–Ķengarags. The major construction works, which required a temporary tram service interruption, have been completed and the trams can run again to Ķengarags. With the restoration of tram route 7, the bus route 7T will be closed.
Tram route 7 will run according to the same schedule as before the closure, which is available here: saraksti.rigassatiksme.lv
As already widely reported, a major reconstruction of tram route 7 started in mid-2023. The construction works include the reconstruction of the existing tram infrastructure and related facilities, including the reconstruction or renewal of the rail structure and the installation of new rails. Stop platforms are also upgraded, both on the street and on the pavement, thus making it easier for all groups of passengers to get on and off the vehicle. At the same time, traffic lights are rebuilt and adapted to give priority to tram traffic, and a number of traffic safety measures are implemented. The works also include rebuilding of the tram overhead contact line supports and overhead systems, as well as the electrical cables.
The construction works are co-financed by the European Union Cohesion Fund within the framework of project No. 4.5.1.1/22/I/001 “Adaptation of Riga Tram Infrastructure to Low-Floor Tram Parameters”.
